Living in Dubai

About Dubai
Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is also the name of the main city within the emirate of Dubai. Weekends do not take place on Saturday and Sunday. The work week starts on Sunday and weekends are on Friday and Saturday. This is because Friday is a holy day in Islam and people should not work on this day. Make sure to respect the local religion and traditions, understand that during Ramadan you should not eat or drink during the hours of daylight in view of local people – it is deeply disrespectful. Respect the dress code as well and dress conservatively.

Housing
Our employers provide housing and it will be pre-arranged and ready for you by the time you arrive to the United Arab Emirates. Most likely you will have to share a room with one or more room mates. You will either be asked to pay for your housing in advance or it will be deducted from your paychecks.

Insurance
Insurance is mandatory in order to apply for a work visa and it will be provided by your employer.

Taxes
There is currently no personal income tax in the United Arab Emirates. As such, there are no individual tax registration or reporting obligations, meaning you will not have to pay income tax.

Ongoing support
Our team is committed to ensure that working in Dubai will be a memorable and rewarding experience in your career. There may be times during your employment that you may feel overwhelmed by the experience. Please feel free to contact us any time you may have a concern.
